The Thrift store manager will be responsible for the day-to-day operational management of the thrift store, including volunteer recruitment, training, supervision and retention, customer care, financial oversight and cash handling procedures; attaining sales goals and revenues; setting standards for loss prevention; donation processing and visual merchandising.

The Thrift Store Manager will work under the direction of the Executive Director.

DUTIES &
Responsibilities:
Operations and Store Management Develop and implement written procedures for store operations, including opening and closing the store; procedures for accepting, sorting, pricing donations; security procedures for staff and volunteers, handling of cash and other relevant procedures as needed.
Oversee the processing of donated items; manage the rotation of items and the disposal of donated items in a timely fashion.
Process includes:
sorting, hanging, tagging, displaying and disposing of donated items as well as coordinating volunteers for big item pick-up Contribute to the development of annual revenue projections to meet financial goals with the agency's Executive Director.
Manage monthly budget, maintaining appropriate supply inventories Ensure that all sales transactions (cash, checks) are handled properly and in line with the agency's cash handling procedures and standards.
Provide ongoing financial reporting to the Executive Director regarding sales progress during certain time periods as well as by department.
Be aware and have knowledge of daily, weekly and monthly sales performance, percentage of sales goals reached and overall operation of the store Maintain and increase knowledge of resale, thrift, and retail trends, attending conferences, visiting other thrift stores and participating in staff meetings.
Identify maintenance problems at the store and communicate needs to the Executive Director to ensure a safe, pleasant and clean working environment for volunteers and customers.
Conduct daily safety inspections by walking the store before opening to make sure floors are free of potential hazards.
Ensure restrooms are cleaned, stocked and in working order Support volunteers on the sales floor with customer conflicts, pricing issues, etc.
Volunteer Management Supervise volunteers; monitor work performance and provide ongoing feedback to improve productivity and job satisfaction Provide strong and compassionate leadership to volunteers, setting operational performance standards and offering training Sourcing and recruitment of volunteers through various techniques, training and supervision of volunteers.
Maintain confidentiality regarding all personnel and programming matters Develop schedules for volunteers to ensure appropriate levels of coverage to both reach the store's financial goals and be able to provide excellent customer service Maintain current knowledge of agency policies and procedures as they relate to personnel; monitor volunteers for adherence to those procedures Regularly communicate with volunteers to provide direction, guidance and oversight.
Host staff meetings as necessary to share information and engage in team building.
Encourage utilization of special talents or skills brought to the store by each individual volunteer.

You must possess excellent organizational skills and the ability to communicate with people from diverse backgrounds and experiences.
MARKETING & DEVELOPMENT Develop and implement marketing campaigns for the store that will directly influence sales, donations, and volunteer morale Implement daily, weekly and monthly store promotions with assistance of the Executive Director and utilization of multiple channels- including social media, email, signage etc.
Analyze sales and current inventory in order to provide projections and recommendations to the Executive Director in order to retain customers and increase sales ATTENDANCE Must be punctual and timely in meeting all requirements of performance, including but not limited to, attendance standards and work deadlines, beginning and ending assignments on time; work breaks, where applicable etc.
